When was the last time you experienced something for the first time

This is from the poster that was signed for me by Sally Edwards in the first ever tri I did in 2000 when I first got bit by the tri-bug. The Danskin one benefiting the Breast Cancer research foundation ( at that time it was benefiting Susan B. Komen foundation).

It has been hanging on our garage wall, and experiencing new things has been my motto/goal in life to live by since then.

I have made a point to 'Experience something I have never done before ' - introduce it to my life - after each of my Ironman events. That gives me something to look forward to after the race and avoid the post-IM blues. I only take off my race bracelet when I start whatever new I am doing with a little ritual.

After GFT 2003 - I attempted mountain biking, extreme races. However after walking around like a perfect example of domestic abuse ( legs black and blue from banging ) and competing in a sprint extreme event ( THEY CALL 12 HOUR EVENTS SPRINTS !!! - and I thought I was nuts) gave that up.

After GFT 2005 - I started sculling which became an important part of my life.

After IM AU - 2007 I just was not able to determine what I was going to experience for the first time ( rock climbing ? pottery ? scuba certification ? ) I was not able to settle on anything and actually ripped my bracelet off one night in a frenzy ( it felt too tight ) 1 week after the race in the middle of one night.

Well, I guess I had to make my goal clearer, as 'Experience something GOOD I have never done before '
