2nd day in hospital

The second day I felt substantially better. My left arm is still lot less mobile than my right one. I got settled using percosed (dunno how that poison is spelled?) for pain management and am taking 1/2 of the recommended dose in order not to turn into 'Dr. House' ;o)

I have mastered getting in and out of bed and moving around without making use of my arms ( thanks to my 6-pack which is coming really handy now ! )

Overall body aches are appearing from the operation which is normal I guess. I just have to keep a constructive activity level which is a fine balance between giving the body good recovery rest, but also moving a bit to keep circulation going, speed up healing.

My blood pressure is slightly high which I was told could be due to pain.

One of the nurses today ( Allison) does tri's, and was looking for a riding group, directed her to the bobbies site.

Dr. Pope and Dr. Chambers checked on me and said that everything was looking good and I could check out tomorrow ( I had the option of checking out today which was the expected stay for a bilateral mastectomy, 1 day -- believe it or not -- ) however I just did not feel comfortable going home without my pain med settled.

Dr. Pope changed the dressings at the operation site, Fred looked at the new boobs and said they looked good no bruising! .. I did not have the courage to do so yet.. maybe tomorrow dunno why I did not but just got intimidated I guess from what I will not see.

Dr. Chambers also said that the lymph nodes looked small which is a good indication that they might not be impacted yey !!! but we'll know for sure on wednesday when we will see the path report.

My family was here in the morning and in the afternoon my friends, N and her husband M, Z, M and her husband A and P stopped by -- M even brought me a tall decaf soy latte along with a beautiful smelling special candle ! N brought a bonzai tree, it is part of the 'tree of life' theme for my recovery. And beautiful flowers from Z and P. A lot of positive energy was in my room.

Nurse Rita hollered in the evening asking me to come quickly outside ! She wanted to share the beautiful sunset with me, Orlando skyline never ceases to impress me especially during this season. I was able to see the orange sunset sky being dappled with multi layered beautiful puffy clouds !

As they were going out to Doc's restaurant across the street for dinner I shamelessly asked them to bring me some desert.. M brought me a chocolate desert which I am not sure what to call other than 'Death by chocolate' it was the extreme chocolate experience !

Ended the day by watching couple of episodes from 'Lost' 1st season. They have prescribed me Ambien to aid my sleep but did not want to take it,maybe I will be able to sleep with the percosed. Will ask for a prescription for Ambien going home though just to be on the safe side. Boy what a change for someone like me who was reluctant to take a tylenol for a headache !
